Embarking on the Cinematic Odyssey: Passion Ignites in my experience with Voyage Media

My journey with Voyage Media began in late 2021, fueled by my ambitions to adapt my novel into a film or TV series. Visualizing the possibilities post-editing, I was drawn to the potential of bringing my work to the screen.

The Flames of Determination: Overcoming Rejection and Embracing Transformation

A Facebook advertisement introduced me to Voyage Media, a platform exploring creative ideas for potential screen productions. Intrigued, I applied despite an initial rejection. The prospect of modifying my story to align with their suggestions led me to reconsider, prompting a reassessment of my approach.

Upon expressing my willingness to adapt, Voyage Media accepted my request for reconsideration. A subsequent Zoom call detailed the process and costs, totalling approximately $500.

Navigating the Abyss: From Despair to the Glowing Promise of Adaptation

Engaging with a producer, I selected one with experience in my genre, particularly the producer of the Chronicles of Narnia. Despite the logistical challenge of a 4 a.m. phone call due to the company’s American base, the insights provided during the conversation proved invaluable.

The producer suggested a pivotal decision point for my story: targeting adults or children. Recommending a shift from cats to humans for an adult audience or retaining feline characters for a child-friendly version, she proposed exploring both avenues. Embracing the idea of animation, I moved forward with renewed clarity.

Sailing Through the Unknown in my experience with Voyage Media

Post-consultation, guidance was received to enhance the chances of screen adaptation. This included writing a successful novel, exploring relevant films in the genre, and a recommendation for “Save the Cat,” a book offering insights into screenplay writing.

I decided to undertake the screenplay independently, so I purchased “Save the Cat” for screenwriting. Although I didn’t secure a screen contract with Voyage, I harbour no regrets. The invaluable advice received regarding my storyline, coupled with the flexibility to seek further input if desired, has proven beneficial. Over the past two years, I’ve implemented changes to my novel, incorporating insights from various courses.
